Types of visa you may apply through Gemini:

  • Work visa (from China)

    Chinese nationals who possess special skills, knowledge or experience of value to and not readily available in the Hong Kong may apply to come to work under the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP). Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

    • The applicant has permanent residence overseas
    • The applicant has been residing overseas for at least one year immediately before the submission of application ("overseas" means countries or territories outside the Mainland, the Macao SAR and the HKSAR) and that the application is submitted from overseas
  • Work Visa (from other countries)

  • Investment visa

    Suitable for business owners or entrepreneurs who intend to come to Hong Kong and expand their business operations. To obtain an investment visa, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

    • Good educational background, technical qualifications or proven business experience
    • In a position to make l contribution to the economy of Hong Kong
    • Factors in assessing applications include the company’s business plan, financial resources, business turnover, investment sum, number of jobs created locally and the introduction of new technology or skills.

  • Training visa

    An application for a visa/entry permit to enter the HKSAR for a limited period (not more than 12 months) of training to acquire special skills and knowledge not available in the applicant's country of domicile may be favourably considered if:

    • the bona fides of the applicant and the sponsoring company are satisfied.
    • the sponsoring company is a well-established company, capable of providing the proposed training;
    • there is a contract signed between the sponsoring company and the applicant.
    • the sponsoring company guarantees in writing the maintenance and repatriation of the applicant and that the applicant will receive training in the sponsor's premises until the end of the agreed period, after which the applicant will return to their place of residence; and
    • the proposed duration and content of the training programme can be justified.
  • Dependent visa

    Visa for spouse, the other party to a same-sex marriage or sponsors’ unmarried dependent child under the age of 18, who wish to come to Hong Kong for residence as dependents.

  • Visa renewal (Same employer)

    Visa for the applicant who wish to extend their current work visa with the same employer.

  • Visa renewal (New employer)

    Visa application for current work visa holders who are moving to a new employer. The procedure will be very similar to a new work visa application.

Who can apply for a work visa in Hong Kong?

In order to apply for a work permit, the follow requirements must be fulfilled:

  1. The applicant should not have any criminal record.
  2. The applicant is preferably to have a relevant undergraduate degree or valid proof of other qualifications, certificates, achievements or work experience in particular fields.
  3. The position must be currently available from the employer.
  4. The employer has made an effort to recruit locally, and the position cannot be readily replaced by a local employee.
  5. The benefits and remuneration packages of the applicant are on par with market standards in Hong Kong.
  6. Generally the minimum remuneration should exceed HK$25,000 per month.

Turnaround time

The turnaround time for each application is normally around 6-8 weeks.
